Sri Venkateswara Arts College, Tirupati more popularly known as S.V. Arts College, Tirupati was came into existence in the year 1945 under the management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to cater to the needs of downtrodden children of Rayalaseema districts in Andhra Pradesh with a modest strength of 80 students and over the years passed, the College has grown up to the present strength of around 3064 students from all over Andhra Pradesh in both UG and PG programmes.

The institution has affiliated to Madras University from 1945 to 1954 and then it was shifted to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati from its inception in the year 1954. The institution previously offered Old Intermediate, P.U.C., Pre-professional courses of M.B.B.S., B.Sc.(Ag), B.V.Sc, New Intermediate, B.C.A. in addition to conventional Under Graduate Programmes of B.A., B.Com., and B.Sc. Some Programmes were offered under Evening College system for more than 2 decades to meet the needs of the employed personnel.

Keeping in view of the emerging trends in education scenario across globally, the new need based programmes are introduced with Computer Science, Electronics, Dairy Science, Microbiology, Bio-technology subjects. In this institution, two Post Graduate Courses viz., M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) and M.Com. (Financial Management) are introduced from the academic year 2008-2009 onwards. The institution is converted as co-education institute from the academic year 2007-08.This institution provides free food and accommodation for all hostel inmates.

The institution is located at the foot of Lord Seven Hills with 50 acres of Campus area along with excellent physical and infrastructural facilities. The College has magnificent three storied building with 22 well equipped laboratories, Science Museums, Computers/Labs, sufficient number of fully furnished class rooms, R.O. purified drinking water supply, parking facility for both staff and students, a spacious play ground in 12.5 acres area with 14 stage Gym, a separate Library building with 88,000 volumes on its stakes, well maintained Hostels with 3 Blocks, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Study Centre (No.33029), Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University (Dr.BRAOU) Study Centre, NCC with 3 Units (Army wing, Air wing and R&V), NSS with 2 Units, Youth Red Cross, Blood Donation Organisation. The institution organized different societal awareness programmes to enlighten the public on Swatcha Bharath Mission, Vanam-Manam, AIDS awareness, Open Defecation Free, Anti-ragging awareness, Women Empowerment, International Women’s Day, National Voters Day, Blood Donation amps, Flood Relief Camps, etc. The College hosting Inter Collegiate Tournaments, NCC camps frequently.

The institution is accredited with “A” Grade by NAAC headed by UGC on 02-02-2006 under 2(f) and 12B Sections.

The College campus is having 2 Virtual class rooms, 6 Digital Class Rooms, 250 MBPS speed of Wi-Fi facility on free of cost, ICT tools to enhance the teaching learning process.
