About the Department

The Department of Sanskrit, S.V. Arts College has started in the year 1945 under the leadership of the Principal and Devasthanams Educational Officer, T.T.D., Tirupati.

There are several well-known and established personalities worked for the Department of Sanskrit. Initially the Head of the Department viz., Dr. K.S.R. Datta (Late) Garu worked for the Development and Establishment of the Department. Later G.G.Ramanujacharyulu (Late), Prof. Varalakshmi, Dr.K.Suryanarayana Reddy and Smt. C. Ramalakshmi were acted as HOD of Sanskrit and strived for the development of the Department.

Vision

We seek to foster knowledge, love of literature and of language in our students. At the end of the course, we provide students coherent curricular framework and relevant well-structured course choice in all phases and areas. We teach Advanced English, General English and Communication skills. We teach students to listen, speak, read and write effectively. We encourage students to think deeply and to reflect on what they have learned through internal examination.

Mission

The Department of English at S.V. Arts College helps students to build knowledge of the content and methods of literary studies. In addition, our faculty is committed to an interdisciplinary approach to knowledge, evident in their involvement in programs such as Yes+ Program which includes Yoga, Meditation, Computer Skills and Communication Skills. Our graduates are well prepared for professional study and for lifelong learning. They pursue careers in Education, Research, Business, Law, Government and Publishing. The Department's policies and its intensive curriculum demonstrate our commitment to the Art of Living.
