About the Department
The Department of Microbiology was established in the year 2000 in S.V.Arts College, as B. Sc. (M.M.C) With Microbiology as special subject with the combination of Medical Lab Technology (M.L.T) and Chemistry named as B.Sc. (M.M.C ) in English Medium.
Sri. Dr.T.Hara Gopal (Rtd), Lecturer in Botany was the first Head of the department of Microbiology (i/c). The course was recognised by the S.V. University, Tirupati with a sanctioned strength of 30 students.
Due to non-recognition of MLT course by Health University, the combination of B.Sc.(M.M.C.) course has been been dropped as All India Medical Council denied permission to MLT Course in Conventional Colleges in 2005.
Hence new course was started as B.Sc.
