National Service Scheme
NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME Launched in the Mahatma Gandhi centenary year 1969 as a student youth service programme , National Service Scheme(NSS) throughout the country aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth ,with an overall objective of personality development of the student through community service. In S. V .Arts College NSS was started in the same year on September 24th, 1969 with two units and each unit consisting of 100 students.
The programmes divided into regular activities in the college campus and special camps outside of the campus particularly community service of 7 days duration in a year.
Organisation
National level NSS Head quarters are located in Delhi, is under control of the Youth affairs & Sports wing of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Its State head quarters are in Amaravathi with regional centers including the one at Tirupati each regional center is headed by deputy or Assistant Programme Adviser/Liaison Officer who monitors its activities.

Progamme Officers
Since 1969, 15 faculty members have acted as NSS Programme Officers. At present Sri K .Subramanyam Naidu, Asst.Professor , Dept. of Economics and Sri T. Jayaramaiah, Sr. Lecturer in History are the NSS Programme officers.
